Hello, I’m Allyson. Welcome to my little piece of the internet! I’m glad you’re joining me on this journey. 🙂 I’m an almost 30 (gulp!) year old mom of one. I recently quit my job and started a new chapter as a Stay-At-Home-Mom. Many factors contributed to that decision, but the main reason was of course my son! Noah has autism, and his needs weren’t being met in daycare. Me staying home enabled Noah to start pre-school, a move which has already led to great improvement in just a couple short months.
I also have an autoimmune disease called Myasthenia Gravis which affects my voluntary muscle groups. Sitting in front of a computer all day really messed with my vision, and stress greatly impacts my health. After MUCH discussion and debate, my husband and I agreed that quitting my job to stay home would be the best thing for our family.
In order to financially make this happen, my husband has to travel with his work. A lot. His schedule is ridiculously unpredictable, but he is usually gone anywhere from 12-50 hours, and then home for another 12-20. Most of his time at home is spent sleeping.
We also use an AWESOME budgeting software called YNAB, which I will be covering in this blog as well! This tool has really allowed us to see where our money REALLY goes, as well as have a lot more discipline to pay off debt and save for a new home.
While staying home is definitely the best thing for my family, it’s lonely! I hope this blog helps me forge relationships with other moms who are in the trenches, fighting this battle of motherhood. I do think it’s a battle…. we are battling ourselves and our flaws, we are battling the opinions of others, we are often battling school districts to make sure our kiddos get what they need to thrive…. every day can be a battle!
